Marc Z. Edell,
one of the pioneering leaders in the field of tobacco litigation,
serves as counsel to Baumeister & Samuels. Mr. Edell received
a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in 1972 and graduated
cum laude from New York Law School in 1975, serving as
a Research Editor for the New York Law Forum.
Mr. Edell is credited for
having obtained the first successful civil verdict against the
tobacco industry for the harms its products imposed on a smoker
in the matter Thomas Cipollone, Individually and as Executor
of the Estate of Rose Cipollone v. Liggett Group, Inc., et al.,
112 S.Ct. 2608 (1992). In 1988, in recognition of his outstanding
contribution to the field of tobacco litigation, Mr. Edell

action helped pave the way for the recent actions brought by
various state attorney generals which resulted in a landmark
settlement with the tobacco industry.

adjunct professor of products liability law at New York Law
School since 1983, and has taught courses in trial practice
at Rutgers Law School. Mr. Edell has frequently been appointed

and environment litigations.

Jersey and American Bar Associations and has served in leadership
positions for both organizations. In addition, Mr. Edell
is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a fellow
of the International Society of Barristers, a fellow of the
International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an Advocate of the American
Board of Trial Advocates, and a Certified Civil Trial Attorney

practice in the fields of medical malpractice, products liability,
